Space in Message.properties

Hi there,
I would like to ask, can we add space in message.properties label...
For example:
I have been assigned the work to make our website multi-lingual. With all the data.
I have created a list in domain which says :

Pay : inlist[Free, You have to Pay]

I was doing it by extracting the first three alphabets.

So my message properties consist of:

pay.Fre = Free
pay.You = You have to Pay

Is there any way of writing,
pay.Free = Free
pay.You have to Pay = You have to Pay.
